Circulating Books: OU-Tulsa faculty, staff, and currently-enrolled students may borrow books from the Library with a valid library registration. Check-out is usually for three months; books may be renewed once, unless they have been requested by another patron. Textbooks for medical school rotations may be checked out for the length of the rotation. There is generally no limit to the number of books OU-Tulsa affiliates may check out.
No item checked out at the Schusterman Library is automatically renewed. The patron must specifically request a renewal. This applies to all books as well as technology and interlibrary loan items.
Leisure Reading: The library has a small collection of popular fiction and non-fiction books for general reading. Checkout period is two weeks, with one renewal.
Electronics: Netbooks, iPads, camcorders, and other electronics may be checked out by OU-Tulsa students, staff and faculty for one week. Items may be renewed for one additional week.
Overdue technology items will begin to accrue fines 24 hours after the library closes on the date the item is due. Fines for equipment which is returned after the due date will be $25 per day for the first four days. Maximum fine is $100. Equipment which has not been returned by the fifth day overdue will be invoiced for the full replacement cost of the item, accessories, and a $50 processing fee in addition to the accrued fine.
Reserve Books, Reference Materials and Bound Journals: These materials are available for use inside the library.
Printing, Photocopying, and Scanning: The library does not have any photocopiers available. Patrons may use one of several scanners in the library to scan print materials. Printing from the library computers, personal laptop, and mobile devices is available on a fee basis using the wepa kiosks located on the library first floor, in the Information Commons.
Services for Other Borrowers: The Library also offers borrowing privileges to OU-Tulsa retirees, current members of the Tulsa County Medical Society and affiliates of OK-Share participating libraries upon presentation of a valid OK-Share card. A limit of four circulating books may be borrowed at once; the checkout period is two weeks, with one renewal.
Members of the public and OU alumni are welcome to use OU-Tulsa books and journals inside the library during our regular operating hours. Appointments for research consultations and review of electronic articles may be scheduled with our librarians. Self-service copying of print material is also available with a per-page charge. Mediated searches and document delivery services have fees attached as well.
If we have not heard from you in 45 days, you become responsible for the cost of the book plus a service charge. We will send you an email invoice with the book replacement cost plus $25 service charge amount. At 60 days, if you have not returned the book or have failed to make special arrangements with the library, these charges will be posted to your Bursar account (for Norman-based students) or your a hold will be placed on your Registrar's account (for OUHSC students) leading to possible delays in receiving grades or transcripts.
Upon returning the overdue book or paying the charges, or once the charges are posted to the Bursar, your library privileges, including Interlibrary Loan, may be reinstated.
If a lost item is later found and returned within a reasonable time, the replacement cost will be refunded. The $25 service charge will not be refunded.
The Lost Material policy also applies to books borrowed throught the ILLiad interlibrary loan service.
